You explore the historic precinct of the 22,000 hectare property on a guided tour, taking in the old farm buildings. Your tour shows some of the dairy operations where almost 1000 hectares have been converted from beef grazing.
Tasmania’s first wind farm sitting in the path of the roaring 40’s offers great views over the Southern Ocean with an interpretive center revealing insights into Woolnorth, renewable energy production, Aboriginal heritage and clean air monitoring.
Cape Grim, where the Bureau of Meteorology has measured the cleanest air in the world since 1976, sensational seascape views covering islands off Tasmania’s North West tip, sites of Aboriginal middens close by and in calmer conditions professional fishing boats gather abalone, calamari, and southern rock lobster from around the Doughboys.

Half Day Tours
This tour departs at 0930 and 1130 daily, subject to booking and availability, from the Bluff Point Windfarm Gate, parking at the end of the sealed C215 road, which is a 40-minute drive (40 km) from Smithton. The tour includes the wind farm, Cape Grim and the Woolnorth Homestead area. Learning about the history of the Van Diemen's Land 190 year Woolnorth operation as well as their modern farming techniques and Australia's biggest dairy farm.
Taste of the Tarkine
Collection from your accommodation in Smithton or Stanley can be arranged for this tour. This tour is for those who love nature at its best. The tour involves several of the most beautiful locations that the Tarkine has to offer; including Dip Falls and the Trowutta Arch. The tour also includes a lovely drive through Circular Head's rich farmlands. Lunch is included with this tour. A reasonable level of mobility is recommended.
