Coastal Pathway Tour – Turners Beach to Ulverstone (Video Blog)

Spend an afternoon exploring the coast from Turners Beach to Ulverstone in the heart of Tasmania’s North West! Bike, walk, or jog, and take your time along to way to enjoy coffee, snacks and playgrounds.

The Route:

Turners Beach parking

Park your car at the old seaside service station and enjoy some views and a stroll along Turners Beach before starting your journey

Pre-journey fuel

Enjoy a delicious brekkie and a coffee at either La Mar, or Turners Beach Berry Patch before starting your route along the Coastal Pathway. Turners Beach Berry Patch also has pick your own berries (seasonally) and a great outdoor space for kids to play.

Start point

The Coastal Pathway begins just north of the Turners Beach roundabout.

Rest stops

If you need a little break to drink some water or have a snack, there’s a few park benches along the Coastal Pathway between Turners and Ulverstone to stop and rest at.

Buttons Beach

If you have a furry friend along (or someone keen for a swim) stop at Buttons Beach a quick dip.

Fairway Park

  • Watch talented teens tackle ramps and tricks at the Hang Ten Skatepark!
  • Stop to play on the swings, slides and rest at the picnic tables at the playground area
  • Admire the giant palms, which have been transported to their home next to the beach.

Coffee break!

Beach Hut Coffee is the perfect place to enjoy a break on the Coastal Pathway. Sip your flat white and enjoy the beach.

Dog exercise area

Let your furry friend roam free! The exercise area is only on the left of the stairs when you enter the beach area. (There are clearly marked signs)

Otto’s Grotto

A great place to set up a picnic and relax next to the river. With public toilets nearby, information and pictures about the area’s history, a large globe to spin and much more – there’s entertainment for the whole family around Otto’s Grotto.

Pedro’s the Restaurant

Treat the family to some take-away! Order from Pedro’s and bring fish and chips back to Otto’s Grotto – your afternoon picnic spot.

Pier01

If you’re travelling kid-less, stop at Pier01 for an adult-friendly beverage and sit on the patio overlooking the beautiful Leven River.

Anzac Park

Let the kids play and roam around at Anzac Park as you enjoy views out onto Leven River. Enjoy the playground and if you’re feeling up to more exercise – try running the stairs a few times!

Turn-around point

Make your way just past Anzac Park to witness gorgeous views looking back towards Ulverstone and over the Leven River. Take a few photos and then slowly make your way back to Turners Beach. If you missed stopping somewhere on the way, take the opportunity to soak it all in on the way home.
