Wynyard is a relaxed seaside town on Tasmania’s north west coast, best known for the spectacular tulip fields of Table Cape. It’s a popular holiday spot with seasonal flower displays, river walks, and a foreshore lined with cafes, markets and boutique shops.
There are two ways to experience tulip season near Wynyard, and they happen at different times.
Table Cape Tulip Farm opens its fields to visitors every day from 26 September until the end of October. You can visit the farm on a day that suits your trip, although flowering depends on the season and conditions. Check the farm’s latest updates before you go.
Wynyard Tulip Festival is a separate, one-day event in town. In 2026 it takes place on Saturday 10 October, from 11 am to 9 pm, at Gutteridge Gardens. The free festival brings together music, food, stalls and family activities. The tulip fields are at Table Cape, not at the festival site.
You can visit the farm without attending the festival, or see both if you are here on festival day.

Tucked away along the shoreline, Gutteridge Gardens and nearby lesser-known beaches reward curious explorers with peaceful outlooks, rock pools, and uninterrupted ocean views. These quiet pockets are perfect for beach walks, photography, or simply pausing to take in the natural beauty that makes Wynyard’s coastline so special.
Fresh Food & Produce
Set along the East Wynyard Foreshore with front-row views of Table Cape, the Wynyard Foreshore Market is a local favourite. Loved by both locals and visitors, it’s known for its welcoming atmosphere and vibrant mix of stalls.
Browse fresh Tasmanian produce (including from Seabrook Valley Farm), vintage finds, handmade soaps, jewellery, clothing and more. Foodies will love the variety of vendors – from barista coffee to steaming dumplings – though stalls change from week to week.
Families are well catered for, too. The popular Rotary Park Playground sits right next door, complete with swings, slides, a flying fox, toilets and barbecue facilities – perfect for a full day out.

Beach & Walking Track
Fossil Bluff, a 23 million-year-old sandstone headland, is an ideal destination for those looking to uncover their adventurous spirit. It features a stunning swimming beach alongside a well-maintained, moderate-level walking trail with stunning ocean views and friendly wildlife. When the tide is low, the cliffs unveil fascinating fossils embedded in the sandstone layers. Additionally, the beach offers a treasure trove of shells waiting to be discovered and collected.
Beach & Public Art
Doctors Rocks is a stunning destination along the renowned Coastal Pathway, featuring its vibrant blue ocean and a rich variety of native flora and fauna. A whimsical public art chair has just been installed making it a great photo opportunity, as well as a relaxing stop to sit and enjoy the view. It is also a conservation area is home to a significant number of little penguins!
Inglis River & Walking Track
The Inglis River flows into the Bass Strait Ocean, and on a clear, sunny day during high tide, the river bursts into life with brilliant shades of blue and lush greenery. The scenic 12 km walking trail along the banks of the Inglis River begins at Gutteridge Gardens and concludes at Fossil Bluff. This riverfront area is perfect for families looking to enjoy BBQs, swimming, or boating, as it features an accessible boat ramp for jet skis and other watercraft.
